MARPOL, Annex VI, Chapter 4 requires that every ship shall have a Ship Energy Efficiency Plan (SEEMP) on board as from 01.01.2013. The purpose of the Shipboard Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) is to establish procedures to improve the energy efficiency of a ship's operation. Increased energy efficiency remains the cheapest and most abundant form of new energy available today. SEEMP lays the foundation to put processes in place to optimize operational processes and improve profitability through the efficient use of people and assets. It is a resource guide for all personnel to increase energy efficiency in vessel systems and operational processes.
