Accident during unauthorized lifeboat launch

On Mar 18, 2014, an accident occurred during a life boat launch aboard the "Alaed" which was docked in St. Petersburg port. There were three people in boat while it was launched, the chief engineer, the 3rd engineer and an electric engineer. The electric engineer fell into water. All three were injured and hospitalized. The accident happened while the men launched the life boat for repairs, without having authorization to do so.

Citadel on the shore

Citadel-861074The "Citadel" ran aground on the shores of the Guadalquivir River due to intense fog in the early hours of Jan 12, 2014. The ship was underway from Porsgrunn to Seville and got stuck five miles from Trebujena (Cádiz ). The ship got stuck just 10 meters from the shore near the mouth of the River Guadalquivir in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The Seville harbor tugs have been working unsuccessfully on Jan 13 morning to get the ship which was loaded with a cargo of 5300 tons fertilizer off the ground. The salvage company Svitzer was contracted to refloat the ship now which was to take place on Jan 18 on the earliest, taking advantage of the high tide , with a chartered tug. Before, some dredging was to be carried out.
