In the afternoon of June 28, 2012, the Barbados flagged cargo m/v "Wilson Caen" (IMO: 9173290) was in collision with the "Giulio Verne" while appoaching the North Quay coming from the Sea Lock and entering the Inner Port of Emden. The "Wilson Caen" which was coming from Rotterdam and had a pilot on board suffered a complete blackout directly off the quay so that a collision with the "Giulio Verne" which was berthed at the quay could not be avoided. Both ships suffered slight damage. The police Emden launched an investigation. After surveys the "Wilson Caen" was meanwhile allowed to sail again and headed for Rorvik on June 29 at 6.30 a.m. while the Italian ship remained at the North Quay.
